*REPORT ON TREE PLANTATION DRIVE – “FOREST OF HOPE”

1. Introduction

In commemoration of World Environment Day, Rayburn High School organized a Tree Plantation Drive titled “Forest of Hope”on 5th June 2026. The drive was conducted at the campus of the Reformed School of Theology (ReST), Mata, with the theme _“Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”_ The initiative was organized by the Middle & Secondary Science Department to promote environmental responsibility and model positive steps toward climate action among students.

2. Participants

- Students: Class X students of Rayburn High School 

- Teachers: Science faculty of the Middle & Secondary Department 

- Guests: Sir Lalpu Hangsing, Academic Dean, ReST; Ma’am Nemy Lalnem Guite, School Coordinator, Rayburn High School 

- Organizers: Middle & Secondary Science Department, Rayburn High School

3. Programme Highlights

The event commenced with an introduction by Sir LT, TGT Science, followed by a felicitation by Ma’am Nemy, School Coordinator. The invocation and official kick-off were led by Sir Lalpu Hangsing, Academic Dean, ReST. The programme concluded with the Environment Day Pledge administered by Ma’am CT, TGT Science. 

Class X students, accompanied by their science teachers, planted 100 saplings across the ReST campus. The activity emphasized hands-on learning, teamwork, and the importance of afforestation in mitigating climate change.

4. Outcome and Impact

- 100 saplings were successfully planted, contributing to campus greening at ReST, Mata. 

- Students demonstrated active participation and understanding of the link between trees, climate, and future sustainability. 

- The drive reinforced Rayburn High School’s commitment to environmental education beyond the classroom.

5. Acknowledgement

Rayburn High School extends its sincere gratitude to the faculty and staff of the Reformed School of Theology, Mata, for generously granting access to their campus and for their support in making the drive a success.

6. Conclusion

The “Forest of Hope” Tree Plantation Drive effectively combined environmental awareness with student action. It served as a meaningful observance of World Environment Day and inspired students to take ownership of climate-conscious practices.
